West Texas extended family sessions are worth documenting. Let me introduce you to the Wiebe family. If you want to enjoy a fun and memorable evening, spend it with this family. There is never a dull moment, and you’ll definitely leave with a bellyache from laughing. Let’s explore the essential things you need to know about a West Texas extended family session.
I’ve shot this family’s portraits before, and the first time was nothing like this session. I saw their personalities the first time, but this time, their true personalities shone through. And you know what happens when clients are real in front of the camera? You walk away with an SD card full of images you can’t say no to.
We started the session by grabbing portraits of each family or couple. Then we tackled the whole family. We captured a few poses and a few more creative ones, and then we went for the fun portraits—the ones that you use for blackmail on birthdays, the ones that remind you of every memory from your childhood.
One of my favorite portraits during the session was when the brothers looked at each other and said, “Are you ready?” At that point, you know someone is in for it. Somehow, Dad knew he would be the target.
You are fixing to scroll through the family images, and when you do, I hope you find yourself caught in the emotions. My goal was to capture joy and everyday life in these images.
During this session, I learned that Susie is the oldest sibling. For whatever reason, I had always thought that she was the second from the youngest. I should have known that since she is my friend, but I didn’t.
During the session, it was highlighted that this family’s two in-laws are truly exceptional and undeniably the most important members. (This was a joke during the session.) I have a photo of them to prove just that.
I love to capture specific photos during the session, but I also know you have particular images in mind. Therefore, I suggest writing them down so that during the session, when things are crazy, we don’t forget to capture those special moments for you.
This West Texas extended family session was a pure joy to capture. If you haven’t already, remember to book your session for next year.
