Today, I will share five tips for your newborn session. As a newborn parent, you don’t need extra stress. I have written this post to help you enjoy your little one and stress less about your session.
Follow these tips for a great session.
Plan
It’s crucial to plan. Reach out to your photographer 3-6 months before your due date. This way, once your baby arrives, you can inform your photographer and set a specific date and time for your session, eliminating any last-minute rush.
Outfits
The second trimester is a great time to plan your outfits. Remember to pick something comfortable to wear postpartum. I recommend sticking to neutral colors.
Feed
Having your baby feed right before the photographer arrives is super helpful. A baby with a full tummy typically does better for the photos.
Prepare
Prepare the night before for your session. If you are planning on coming to my studio, pack the diaper with extras. Extra diapers and outfits are always a plus. If your session is in your home, have your mom or sister come in and tidy up your home the evening before.
Relax
I can not stress this one enough. Mom and Dad, if you are not relaxed, the baby will not relax either. Babies take time to photograph, and that’s okay. I allow myself plenty of time to capture the portraits you deserve.
If you have toddlers or other children, remember they get hungry, too. You may need to pack an extra snack for them as well. I myself have had children, so I get how they can be after a new little one. Their attitudes will often surprise us with what they say or do at a photo shoot. Let it go, momma. They are trying to adjust to the new change.
