Despite the cold temperature and rain, Noah’s senior session was a lot of fun to photograph. Two years prior, I had photographed his sister’s senior session.
“Guys are hard to photograph” is a phrase I often hear. Although this saying is partly true, I still enjoy getting creative and capturing portraits of senior guys. I wouldn’t necessarily say that guys are harder to photograph; it’s just that there aren’t as many poses and things you can do with guys. Well, nothing like a senior girl, for sure.
A senior guy session is simpler in poses. You don’t have to have as many poses on hand; capture them from different angles, move in close, and make sure to get wide shots as well.
One thing that is true about a senior guy session is that they are eager to finish the session. Therefore, if they have an outfit change, you are guaranteed it won’t take them a long time to change.
Noah’s session started off at the Teichroeb house dressed in his black suit. We took a few portraits there before we headed to Childress, Texas. In Childress, we used various locations to capture the images we were looking for. We used the basketball/tennis court to capture the athletic portraits.
Then, we headed to the baseball field to photograph Noah in his uniform. We packed a bat, helmet, glove, and baseballs along. We wanted every detail photographed. Of all the portraits we captured, these were my favorites from his session.
Next, we made our way towards an alley. The old building had trees growing right up next to it, giving it an abandoned feel. This is where we were cut a little bit short on our time due to the rain moving in. We managed to capture all the portraits here that we needed then had to run back to the vehicle to beat the downpour that was fixing to hit us.
