Noah’s session took us from the Teichroeb home to Childress, Texas, where we wove basketball, tennis, and baseball into his senior portraits. Even with cold temperatures and steady rain, we walked away with a gallery that captured this season of his life in a way that felt completely like him.

Senior Guy Photography Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

People tell me all the time that guys are hard to photograph. There may be some truth to that, but I genuinely enjoy senior guy sessions. They aren’t harder. They’re just different.

Senior photography for guys is less about elaborate posing and more about intentional simplicity. There aren’t as many pose variations as a senior girl session calls for, but that doesn’t mean the images lack depth or personality. A senior session thrives when it’s kept simple: a few strong foundations, photographed from different angles, moving in close for connection, then stepping back for wider, environmental portraits. Those small shifts tell a fuller story and keep the whole session relaxed.

That same simplicity applies to what you bring to your session. You don’t need every uniform, every trophy, or every piece of gear you’ve collected over the years. A jersey, a good pair of shoes, and a ball or two are usually enough to tell the story of a sport you love. Less to carry means more time spent on the portraits that actually matter.

Starting with Classic Senior Portraits

Noah’s senior session began at the Teichroeb home, where he started in a classic black suit. These portraits felt clean, timeless, and polished. They’re the kind of images that will feel just as meaningful ten years from now as they do today. After capturing a few frames there, we headed to Childress, Texas, to add variety and personality to his gallery.

Incorporating Sports Into Portraits Session

We used the basketball and tennis courts to create athletic portraits that reflected Noah’s interests and his high school experience. Including sports in a senior guy session adds authenticity, especially for a senior who has spent years dedicated to his craft. These locations helped tell a more complete story of who Noah is during his senior year.

As mentioned above, you don’t need to bring every item to represent your sports journey, just bring your favorite items along. If you are bringing a ball along, I would encourage you to purchase a new ball for the portraits, it adds a nice touch to the detail photos. You can purchase a new ball at any sporting stores located near you, one of my favorite locations is Academy Sports.

Why the Details Matter in Senior Portraits

From there, we made our way to the baseball field, where Noah changed into his uniform. We packed a bat, helmet, glove, and baseballs, because every detail matters. These weren’t just props. They represented years of commitment, growth, and dedication. Of every image we captured during Noah’s senior guy session, these baseball portraits are my favorites.

Making the Most of a Rainy Senior Session

Our final stop was an alley beside an old building, where trees had grown right alongside the structure and given it a textured, almost abandoned feel. The rain moved in quickly and cut our time short. We worked fast, captured what we needed, and made it back to the vehicle just as the downpour hit.

Even with unpredictable weather, Noah’s senior session came together beautifully. Perfection isn’t found in ideal conditions.
