Talk about being at the right spot at the right time to capture this surprise proposal. I have always been jealous of photographers who happen to catch random moments like this. Well, it happened to me this past weekend, and I can not even begin to tell you how nervous I was.
I was in Midland because I wanted to shoot a session for my daughter, and we were waiting for her boyfriend to get to the location. When I heard someone asking a question about my photography, I turned around, and the dad asked if I could capture the proposal that was about to take place.
My heart started racing immediately. This is such a huge moment. A hundred questions ran through my mind: What are my camera settings? Where will they be? Will I miss the moment? What if the lighting is not good?
There they are. I see the couple walking straight towards me. Goodness, I am nervous, and I probably had quilt written all over my face. We pass each other on the sidewalk and I take a few steps forward and as I turn around I see Sebastian getting on one knee. This is it!!!! This is the moment!
As soon as I pulled the camera to my face and started snapping pictures, I knew exactly what to do! The nervous feelings and questions all disappeared. I loved every single minute of it!
Congratulations, Hailea and Sebastian, wishing you the best. Enjoy your upcoming days of planning and soaking it all in.
Thank you to the dad for being bold and asking me to take photos of this surprise proposal; what an honor.
Did you enjoy this surprise proposal? I did, but check out other engagement sessions here.

Arielle and David's wedding was elegant, to say the least! I observed their private vows from a distance and witnessed tender moments shared between the couple. Although it was a joyous occasion, the wedding was marked by the tragic loss of the groom's mother just weeks before.
Arielle's planning was evident in every aspect of the wedding, and the details of the day were simple yet elegant. Arielle's dress was beautiful.

If I could photograph this West Texas wedding again, I would do so in a heartbeat. Maria and Thomas' wedding was a joy to photograph. I knew the moment I walked into the room that we were going to have a good day.
For the first look, the pecan orchard was a must regardless of the weather. Let me tell you, these images turned out beautiful. The trees were lush green, and the misty rain added to the scene.
